On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, on the occasion of Kurdistan Flag Day, Zakho University, in coordination with the Kurdistan Students’ Union - Zakho Branch, organized a ceremony to commemorate this important and historic day.

The event began with the participation of the Vice President of the University of Zakho for Administrative and Financial affairs, Dr. Muhammed H. Khamo, along with deans of colleges, representatives of the 8th Branch of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, officials and members of the Kurdistan Students Union - Zakho Branch, faculty members, staff, and students of the university.

The ceremony opened with the raising of the Kurdistan flag in the university’s central garden accompanied by the national anthem, “Ey Reqîb”. Subsequently, a speech was delivered by the dean of the College of Humanities, Dr. Fakhir H. Youssef, and the Head of the Students Union - Zakho Branch, Mr. Ahmed Saeed. In their speeches, the speakers highlighted the history and sanctity of the Kurdistan flag, the Kurdish people, and the significance of this day. The event concluded with poetry about the Kurdistan flag recited by students.
